Intimacy

Le Mas du Rouquan is an intimate, family run establishment that offers an unforgettable experience of the many delights of Provence and the Côte d'Azur.  Set in the heart of the Fôret des Maures (often described locally as 'la Peite Afrique'), famous for its rich flora and fauna during the spring, and in the foothills below La Garde Freinet, le Mas du Rouquan is ideally situated for the disccerning visitor eager to sample the attractions of this stunning area. The patio and swimming pool (with solar heated shower) benefit from sunshine from dawn till dusk, while the parasol pines and cork oaks provide shade for those happier to avoid the heat of the midday sun.

Regional Cuisine

Philippe and Kate Cheminade have renovated the property to provide five ensuite studios, each with their own entrance and private terrace.  Each studio is equipped with a small kitchenette and fridge.  Table d'hôte evening meals are served "en famille" by arrangement.  Philippe, a professional chef with many years' experience in several well reknowned establishments, welcomes those guests keen to discover traditional Provence cuisine.  Evening meals are served on the terrace where one can admire the magical views of the forest and the hills that tower above the Gulf of St Tropez.  Wine and coffee are included in the price and special dietary needs are easily accommodated.

In the Area

Ste Maxime is only a 25 minute drive through the hills, from which the famous St Tropez harbour is a 15 minute boat ride away.  The famous Pampellone beaches are approximately 40 minutes' drive away.  For the more adventurous traveller willing to negotiate the winding hairpin bends an hour to the north, the Gorges du Verdon is a spectacular and breathtaking day trip.  Kate and Philippe are happy to lend their extensive knowledge to point their guests in the direction of many other glorious towns, sites and attractions.
